Prepping for the Party

Penny is the activities chair for our ward and as such is responsible for putting together the annual ward Christmas party. One of the things she's always wanted to do was recreate "A Night in Bethlehem". Not just any night, but the night Joseph and Mary returned to the city and Mary gave birth to Jesus. This has been months in the making and Penny and her committee are doing a fine job. I attended the final rehersal earlier this week and it looks like it's going to come together pretty well. In her typical fashion Penny has done an excellent job delegating tasks and pulling everything together into one cohesive result. I wish I was better at this! Here are a few pictures of things coming together... I'll post more from the actual party when I get them.

It's a Buzzer-Beater 3!!!

Clark vs. Berkner - Freshman Basketball - Friday, December 7, 2007

Daniel's game last night was filled with ups and downs... well, mostly downs but the Clark Cougars made a strong comeback after being down by as much as 16 in the 4th quarter. Daniel started and played most of the 3rd quarter until he made a doube-dribble mistake and coach asked him to warm the bench. A scoring discrepency between the books and the board occurred when one of the Cougar free-throws wasn't reflected on the board as it should have been. The grumpy, old, Berkner scorekeeper wasn't going to be corrected by the 15 year-old book-keeper from Clark so the board stayed in error throughout the remainder of the game. We were down to the last 6 seconds of the game and Clark was down by 4 (which most everyone really understood was 3 and would be worked out by the officials later). Coach called time out and put a plan in place to tie the game. He pulled Daniel off the bench and asked him to get himself open for an outside 3. The ball was in-bounded, the clock started ticking and Daniel sprinted to his sweet-spot. With one second left on the clock he got the ball and shot over the heads and hands of two large defenders from Berkner. Time expired with the ball in the air... SWISH! There was a large debate still ensuing when we left the gym Friday night over the scoreboard debacle but in at least one 15 year-old's head he saved the game for his team and received some much needed praise from his coach.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

I added a few pictures to a slideshow that are a sure sign the Peterson's are getting ready for Christmas. I'll post more outside of the slideshow as I take them. I'm really just using this as a cheesy excuse to try the new slideshow widget but what the heck right? Enjoy!

Still no nativity scenes up yet... hmmm... Penny is sticking to her claim that she's concerned the rough-housing and overly-excited dog will break them. "I" on the other hand claim she's just deferring the job because it's a lot of work to set them all up. Silly girl!
